View Full Version : Model Pinch Bomb Cart Model (wip)

I abandoned this project because a small computer fire removed my use of a desktop for a couple months (other issues, at the time, included no custom particles--which i still haven't decided on using).
But now... it is time to take another look. I should post some screens of the currently released version... but you'll have to wait a few days. I plan to release screens by the weekend's end, and hopefully the model soon after.
The dispenser is being modified, and the bomb (the ends) are being 'originalized' (I don't think I want to keep any part of the old bomb). The radar will also be... 'fixed'...
Attachments will be made for particle makers, and I may even include a couple custom particles myself.
And, I'm always open to suggestions and criticism.
The old thread hides here for those interested: [WIP] Pinch Bomb Cart Model - TF2Maps.net
Excellent, will be keeping a keen eye on this thread.

Your back :)
wasnt not being able to include particles the reason you put the old bomb on hold?
Looks like a great, fresh idea, although the reference may be a bit too explicit for some gamers. Personally I found it to be a little bit... miss-able. I have no idea what that means, or what you should make of that, it was just my first thought. Just that it doesn't seem as "over the top" as it would need to be for players to recognize. I feel that the best solution to this would be a glowing effect, and since you refuse to make one, I will. When I get the chance.

Fixed up the dispenser (not done with textures). The buttons will be different, these are just placeholders.

i think you captured the tf2 style really good so far. what i would suggest is to make round things reaaaaally round. when i first studied the original tf2 cart my jaw dropped pretty much about how many polygons it had, so be sure to pump some things up a notch ! like the bottle and its holder on top. make it round ! :D
also the nail heads. round round !!
but since its wip i don't know what your future plans are with it :)

Add some kind of raygun in the front of it, i'm thinking on a payload that on the final point the cart shoots at a bulding, then eveything explodes :D

There will be separate release for that.

Yeah, but I planned on coming back to it sooner than I was able to.

I'm not making this in hopes that people will get the reference, or immediately understand what this device does (push it and find out!). Others can refer to it however they want to, most likely as EMP (or whatever use they find for it).
As for glow... I never explicitly stated my refusal to make it glow. It is self illuminated, but I'm guessing you mean more like a sprite glow (If I remember, I had issues due to occlusion; it only showed from the sides).

The dispenser is mostly the original hacked apart and put back together; removed some polys here, added some there. The whole thing was shortened, the vent reduced in size. The tank moved from the side to the top and was modified to look different (the holder currently remains the same). And the ammo... hasn't been touched.
Let me rephrase that: I haven't done much.
