i think you can afford a little more detail than that on the tones. Think of the crocodile, and obviously the cow. It's all photoshopy at the moment.

I think if anything, the kangaroo could use a little less detail, no?

yes, i say get rid of the 5-6 diagonal dark brown stripes on the upper and lower stomach - then it's 10/10 stars kangaroo

Obvious photoshop filter, but it seems to fit much better.

i think if you get rid of the smaller colored parts on the stomach (especially slightly above the tail part) you'll be fine. since the cow and crocodile are very hard-colored.
but i mean, good lord, who would even care since this won't ever be used in an upfront view. just leave it be and call it finished ;)

It's silly to make new versions of it as people will forget.
also it'd be cool if you made an animal cut-out pack :)

Why would people forget?
This model can totally be used up front...I made it with a collision mesh and LOD view models...hell, I'm tempted to compile it so it will work as a physics props. That would do it. Or fragment it so it breaks when shot. So many things to try!
I actually like the first skin you made, but hey. Choices are always good.

My point was not that it was 'wasn't detailed' but that is was all photoshopy with those default PS paint brushes on medium opacity. By "increasing detail" i meant what you came out with there with the cutout filter, harder lines like what the cow and crocodile have.
