Pick whichever class(s) you guys like the most, or play the most. It doesn't matter if you like a particular class for its weapons or you just like how that class's particular character design looks. Multiple choices are allowed. :)
My favorites are:
Heavy (for character design and ease of use)
Scout (character design and great for mapping ;))
Sniper (for lots of kills)
Engineer (gotta love them sentries!)

I'm stuck between engi and demo. Demoman was just easy for me to play, infact it was my favourite class in TFC; was difficult to get used to the sticky bombs how ever! I also missed the mirv grenades. It is easy to rack up kills as demoman, i can't play spy to save my life, so setting traps was the next best thing.
Engineer on the otherhand.. is just so damn fun. You feel like an integral part of the team, the majority of a bases defenses count on you, and your teleporters also earn you kudo's from your team. Especially Fatty!
Has anyone noticed that the teleporter count seems to reset at like 50 ports? Kept looking at my port count on badlands and it went, 20's, 30's, 40's.. wtf it's back at 22... About 3 times in a row that happened.
You should blatently get an achievement for 50/100 ports in one teleporter life span.

I love engy, but unfortunately teams seem to fill up with them even if I'm the first one to go engineer. When I see we have five engineers, or that there are 3 or 4 already, I go sadface and pick another class. I find myself playing demo a whole lot as a result. I'm starting to rethink that, not just because of the stupid ammo nerf, but also because I see so many bad engineers setting up their stuff in stupid places, or lining up rows of level 1 sentries that all get mowed down immediately instead of pooling resources to get at least one level 3 sentry first. I makes me want to pick up their toolbox and smack them over the head with it.

Too many engies is the reason I really like servers that place class limits so that no team can have "too many" of a particular class. I think it helps enforce class variety and teamwork.
I enjoy Engy and Scout as of late. I also play Demo, Pyro and Heavy depending on the situation, but Engy and Scout are my favorites. Badlands has recently taught me how to play the scout more effectively. I find it a joy to make hit and runs from angles no one expects. There's nothing like running up next to someone from inside their own base and blasting them in the face with the scattergun. I've even taken down a few heavies that way.

I love the Soldier, because he's hilarious and very powerful. I love the Demoman because I can usually take out anything, given enough time. I love the Spy because it's so fun to go on a backstab spree, killing 3 or 4 people in a row.
I can't stand playing Scout, because for some reason I am absolutely awful. While other people can bat me three times and kill me, I can't even get close enough to an enemy to use my scattergun, let alone bat them. I can't stand playing the Sniper because it's boring.
I'll play as anything else.

I'm heavy 95% of the time. My normal K/D is 5+/1, with a good medic even better =)
Second class is sniper, Snipers were always my favorite class in every other FPS game.

I generally favor the heavy, engineer, demo, and pyro. The heavy's slow speed and wide area of fire means my slow reflexes and crappy aim don't matter much :-). Plus, the heavy is absolutely devastating in the right circumstances. Plus plus, his voice emotes are hilarious. "I am giant!" "Come, sing with me now! Dum dum dum dum....". The engineer also fits well with my gaming strengths and weaknesses, as the sentry gun is fast and accurate for me. I enjoy finding unusual or unexpected ways to deploy my gear to benefit the team... sneaking teleports behind enemy lines, putting dispensers where they can really make a difference, and being very aggressive with my sentry gun, moving it up constantly. The demoman I like because it's just an unusual play style... with no straight-firing weapon, you have to approach the game in a different way. They're also about the only way to deal with an enemy uber at all, if you can pop them in the air with your stickies. And pyros... pyros set people on fire. I don't even care if I get kills, as long as they BURN BURN BURN HAHAHAHAHAHA....
Ahem. I'm fine. Perfectly fine. Everything is okay here. Umm... How are you? :-p

It all depends on the map, situation we're in, what others have chosen.
But I prefer to play in this order.
Demoman / Pyro / Engineer / Spy / Medic / Scout / Sniper / Heavy / Soldier

Engineer all the way, I really like playing engineer and I think I am better than most at it (my own blatantly biased opinion).
I get mad when I join a team that has 4+ engineers and all they are doing is building sentries. They completely neglect teleporters.
I dont know my record with teleports because I have noticed the counter resets also, I know I have had it reset then get back up into the 20's before it got destroyed (dustbowl final area while on the attack).
Each map gives you different ways to play an engineer which keeps it interesting.
If the engineer class is full I will ussually go to demoman or medic depending on how whats needed.

Spy.
Its overwhelmingly all I play nowadays. I guess i just got bored with the other classes really.
If I feel like not really getting into the thick of it that much and want slower gameplay for a while then ill play engineer usually. Ill play sniper sometimes too, it is my most point class actually, but spy is getting up to it.
But yeah, ive played em all quite alot, other then medic, I only like stabbing medics, not playing them.
Stueh!

I seem to be getting better and better at sniper nowadays >.> on koume's toystorw map I was dominating for once, which is nice
my fave for lols is probably spy tho
you can beat "fyi I am a spy"
medic used to be my favorite, i could help people, kill people, and occasionally decimate sentries. But now i prefer the demoman for area control.... and sticky jumping... i just love to fly :)

I get the most frustrated with snipers on most maps, in most games I like to play anti-sniper sniper, creep around, find where the enemy snipers are, then snipe them. That is a bit harder in TF2 because creeping is virtually impossible and it just becomes a game of faster reflexes which I usually lose...

It really depends on the map. It generally works better in CTF maps because you don't generally have to go very far to get to "the line". I like to play anti-sniper sniper too, but to me it's less about faster reflexes (and ping) and more about psychology. Know where they'll be, never fire from the same place twice, and poke your head out when you think they'll be aiming at other people.

I use the Scout, Engineer, and Medic mostly, but depending on the circumstances, I can go well with any class except for spy. The Scout is extremely fast, and hitting the same enemy 4-5 times with the baseball bat without them even turning around is extremely satisfying. The Engineer sets up a whole new tactic into fps games, there's just something so fun about setting up a Level 3 sentry next to your flag. As for Medic, I just love healing all the people on fire. No, I'm not anti-pyromania, I actually love fire. I just don't use pyro that often.
Out of these 3, I pick Engineer to be my favorite. It's just so original compared to anything I've seen in an fps game.

Ditto, snipers arn't normally a problem for me as demo or engi; i'm content enough to not hastily running out for revenge if i so happen to get shot crossing the battlements or something. But i'll sure go out of my way to ruin a good snipers kd ratio if they're that annoying, kill them enough times they'll just leave the server. No good one class wonders! :P
Demoman, hands down. Why? Because he can handle anything you throw at him (except good snipers on very long range maps (there is really only 1 sniper I'm really worried about on my server). But I lol at heavies, that's for sure) and wipe out entire groups of enemies with a single click. Skill level on the server I play on is pretty high I think (mucho teamplay. Don't play spy or engy on this server. You are lucky if you get 1 backstab per death :P. Your sentry won't last over 5 kills). Joined a random server with a friend of mine once. Me demoman, he medic. Ended up with 9KPD O_o.

If a sentry even gets one kill, it's done its job. If a sentry is just there to divert the enemy's attention, it's done its job. A good engineer doesn't care how often he has to build, he just knows what, when, where, and why he has to build. And he knows when to build and when to own face with an actual weapon. :D
Conversely, if there's high teamplay, as you claim, an engineer's team will help protect their defenses. ;P

Basically medic is one of the most important characters of the team. Somehow though, most people don't want to play it. Doesn't matter, that makes me one of the better medics around (yes, that sounds like bragging, but I've played lots of fps-games. I'm not the best killer, but supportive is my greatest thing).
On favorite classes, in order: medic, engineer, soldier, pyro.
Other classes when needed, although demoman is really not my thing.

76 hours as scout
40 hours as engie
9 hours as spy

That's true. Sentries are more for keeping the enemy busy than anything else :). It's really too bad that there are only a few places a sentry can be build to hold out longer than a couple of seconds. Everything seems to be in Soldier range. And since you can't repair faster than 2 soldiers can pound it, it's usually down pretty fast.

Demo. This is just the best class ever. I switch according to the situation though but demo is the man for sentries and blocking paths.

True, but I think that on most of the valve maps there are always at least 1-2 really good sentry locations where you can cover all routes so soldiers have to stay in range and poke around corners. This makes it so only 1 soldier can really pound you at a time.
Custom maps on the other hand, I notice that they are either A. Make it rediculously hard for engineers, or B. Make it rediculously easy for engineers.
There have onyl been a couple custom maps that I think really get a good balance.

^^ There are 9 classes to balance your map to, so that is not that strange.
On the other hand, if you balance your map at (for instance) CPs quite nice for engineers, most other classes are probably already quite balance too because of that.

For my map I'm aiming for a bit on the easy side for engineers. I know there are always 2-3 medics who time ubers on my regular server, so anything consisting of <6 sneaky sentries goes down anyways.
