I have the equipment to make a podcast, so do you guys wanna make a podcast devoted to nothing but TF2 and Maps? Maybe we'll discuss topics like map-making and Hammer and talk about the latest updates which are currently sparking up controversy with the ammo reductions for Demo and Soldier.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but the possiblity of TF2Maps having a podcast really intrigued me.

Not a bad idea. Perhaps you could discuss and rate the newest custom maps?

That is a badass idea. I'd listen to it. Hell, I'd be interested in helping out on it.

Thanks for the comments, guys. :D

If anyone wants to be hosts or guests on the show, please post here. I'm willing to be a host if anyone doesn't want to be one.

I'll make custom music jingles and stuff and we can all work out a list of topics to discuss on the show.

I'll also have to check with DrPepper to see if it's alright to host a podcast on here. Fortunately, if the bitrate for the mp3 is low, we'll get low file sizes without any real bad reduction in quality.

watch out, Control Point! I'd be a bit more interested in helping out now that I've sorted out my sound recording capabilities.

Sure, i have no objection. A few questions tho.

Is this live streaming?
What kind of bitrate are we looking at?
Could you give me some info on podcasts in general, im a little ignorant on the subject ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasting

Its basically a portable news updates.

IE. a Podcast for tf2maps.net may be an hour long segment on..

1. Upcoming maps.
2. Tips on how to improve your mapping ability
3. Interview with some of the more successful mappers
4. Interview with tf2maps.net pepper/immortal a "how it all started"
5. Tips on optimizing
ETC

Pretty much a portable radio show that can be used for a lot of things, all of which are cool if rightly done =)

We have had Playground Radio up and running for 3 months now, 24/7. Soon we will be implementing the ability to have our DJ's and studio freaks play live sets from their home, and also scheduling some weekly programs. I'd be pleased to include the TF2Maps.net podcast on the schedule and would also like to place a link to it on our front page for people to listen at leisure. (It's my hobby btw - I have a small studio).

It occurred to me that you may be interested in, say, going for a common release day for our respective podcasts and giving the other's a bit of a shout :D Ours was to include a 'map feedback' from gamers item, but I'd make sure I didn't overlap with you guys and your 'in depth' knowledge. Ours isn't going to have as wide a TF2 appeal as yours - it's more for the Playground Members - and will include articles on Video and Machinima (made with TF2 and GMod), Trends in online gaming, Music Production, Music Reviews and Film Reviews. Plus news from the Playground. So more of a magazine.

Either way i shall be tuning in to listen with interest :D

First impression - "whats the point... Control Point already do a fantastic job of TF2 podcasts" (for those that don't know (http://www.deadworkers.com/tf2/))
On later thought - "Actually, a podcast about just the latest custom maps, issues relevant to mappers, tips and tricks etc could be damn good"
On even more thought - "Actually, we should contact control point and make an hour and a half podcast and get them to put it out as one of their own, like a 'guest podcast' type thing"

I listen to a lot of podcasts.
PCgamer, 1UP, 1UP Community, OXM, Windows Gaming, Max PC, used to listen to Joystiq, Xbox360fanboy, and PS3 fanboy, But lost interest in them.
Been listening for about 3 years now, I'd definitely listen to a podcast solely dedicated to TF2. Although not one just sticking to maps.
Maybe cover:
"What the community want in TF2"
"New server-mods, maps this month"
"Maps in beta"
"Bi-Weekly argument: We need a new class-for/againt"
"What maps/mods/games we've been playing this week"
They all make for good segments I've found on other podcasts, especially the last one on PCgamerPodcast.

My God...An 80+ minute podcast...dedicated to TF2...with briefcases.

Also, a "Making fun of the Steam Forums..." Segment would be nice

I can't believe I missed this thread. Though 1 hour does seem a bit long. Even doing that like once a week, I think we'd have trouble filling in the time. I don't think there's enough to say about custom content to make a dedicated cast, we'd likely have to mix in regular TF2 talk. Still, it's something to consider for the future.

onething that can also be covered is opinions on the play test that week. give brief reviews on said maps.

interesting idea still. maybe a 20 - 30min one would be idea.

I've Produced a few podcasts in my spare time in the past, and I think it would be great if you would interview mappers, like the dude that did corporation or whatever to hear their side of the story as well.

Interaction is always better than just talking about news and releases and stuff.

Skype is great for interviews if they have a decent headset.
