For mappers of all varieties there is a fantastic resource on the Black Mesa website (formerly 'Black Mesa Source' before Valve asked them to remove 'Source')
It comes in the form of a developer blog. All of the developers working on the mod can add entries as they like but mainly its the mappers that are adding posts. It's updated roughly once every 5 days and the sort of stuff they put in it are usefull, real world applications of hammer. Both theory and practical uses are covered and made very clear, often with pictures to illustrate.
This seems to be mainly aimed at the beginner to he who sort of understands hammer well, Although There are a few really usefull bits of information usefull to the more advanced mapper in there too.

I've been following BMS for about a year now, I just want them to hurry up and release the damn thing already, I think there was a december 08 date set as 'most likely' as they work by the principle of 'its done when its done' rather than using valves time. One of the major things that people were saying was that there were not enough updates saying "we're still working on this never fear" so they responded with the devblog, which is more than we could have ever asked for :D

A friend notified me of the blog a few weeks ago, thanks for reminding me about it!

It's always good to see the progress these guys are making. They are a superbly talented bunch and their "still WIP" screenshots rival or surpass the work that Valve does.

Blog or no, this project wasn't even on my radar before. It looks sexy. I haven't played original half-life in so long. This would be a great way to experience it again.

This blog is awesome for the Source Mapper such as us.

I just now found out about the cordon tool. Such a useful tool on a large, complex map.
