I thought it would be a good idea to highlight the member blog area using the latest major TF2maps contest and the aid of elite TF2maps members who feel like contributing blog posts as they develop their "Art Pass" maps.

Whilst the mapping area is good for direct feedback and gamedays i find that the latest contest seems to make the threads slightly redundant or out of place. Blogs are good places to discuss concept ideas, reference material, inspiration and musing thoughts; of which are all areas that are more prominant in this contest than other site related projects have allowed. It also highlights certain entries from the mass of applicants in the contest entry sub forum, something donators/veterans should allow themselves to take advantage of.

The idea is, if you would like to document your development and discuss the contest/other contest entries in your blog, paste/send me your blog url and i can list them in this OP. People can then check back every now and then to see insightful reports by popular TF2maps level designers on a more personal note than what might be experienced in the standard map threads. I'll update individual blog posts on this page when i become aware of them (i might need updating personally with a PM, for more efficient blog updates).

If the concept gets enough attention it might be nice to have this temporarily stickied for reference purposes.

P.S. Let me know what you think of this endeavour. Also, this will not directly replace the map threads, you can obviously update these seperately/together.

I think this is a great idea. The blogging function needs to be used more, even if it is only available to use if you're VIP/Veteran. I currently am blogging about Propane, and I plan to continually use the function. I find it's a good way to show progress when something is seemingly at a standstill, without bumping the actual map thread. I hope some members do use the blog to document what they're doing/why they did it. I love seeing the thought process behind something.

Hopefully this will make blogs more popular. I'm glad I started the trend.

Great idea! In truth something like this should be done in a weekly announcement, especially for relevant and interesting blog posts.

Anyways, depending on how depressed/emo I'm feeling I'll see about documenting my progress through the contest in the coming days as well.

It's supposed to be about contest blog posts.

Your latest blog isn't about the contest, it's about SC2 and the local library.

Might be helpful if you said in those "Moar blogposts added" which ones you added. :P

That should be obvious by the blog dates :/

I added my latest blog but no one has blogged in a while, let alone blogged about the contest. I can only assume people are getting their elbows stuck in with too much work to worry about documenting their progress.
