wow not going to lie i got list early on *might be because its 5:10am here* however..

This looked like it was a ton of work. You did a great job explaining it for all 3 different programs someone could use.

A lot of effort went into witting this, A++

This is an amazing and comprehensive tutorial that is very clear and accomplishes exactly what it needs to.

I'd love to see you go the next step and expand on it by describing the steps behind skinning a custom model.

Model Skinning Tutorial (http://forums.tf2maps.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=252) has been updated!

Update everyone, I forgot to put a line of code in the QC file if your props are static you need to add $staticprop to the qc file before config

Yes TotalMark, it is copy/edit protected to keep it only on tf2maps.net :) You should be able to print but if anyone has any permissions issues let me know.

OK poopester Post the first 7 Characters of your briefcase model (PS I will be releasing later tonight the gray Gravel Co Pack which I have reskinned the breifcase)

Let me know how that works out for y'all, and Don't forget to RATE the file and/or Thank me if you liked it :)

PS: Mangy That might be comming soon, i'm a bit busy at the moment, but we'll see. :) I'd like to start making a few tuts for tf2maps.net in the same format if everyone is ok with the pdf.

Ok the model is up now but here is what mine looks like (see attached) AFTER I edited it with Notepad++ (Did you use notepad++ or something else?)
There are a lot of TF2 models that have the - that don't decompile most of the Gray Gravel ones i did DID NOT until i changed that to a ,

Even though I have already done it, I want to find your issue, if there is something I don't have in the guide about decompiling then i'd like to know and add it!

PS: LOVE the new image view stuff for attached images!

I haven't read it yet, but heaps of thanks anyway. I'm going to try my hand at some modeling this weekend, and while I'm au fait with building the mesh, I have no idea how to tackle the skinning.

Well I don't want to give your hopes up, but this one is really on reskinning stock models, i'll start work on adding skinning of custom models soon, but that's not in this tutorial.

for the VTF Explorer installation part of this tutorial it tells me to select my "source SDK base" folder. i'm not given that option. only half-life 2, portal, source sdk base 2007 and team fortress 2. i got it to work by putting it in half-life 2's bin but i have no idea why my base folder isn't appearing as an option.

also for the StudioCompiler and mdldecompiler part you left your steam id in the example path.

the mdldecompiler link does not work, and I cannot get it to work with studiocompiler, it loads the model, but then it crashes. I get a windows error report window thingy. I changed the - to a ,

if anyone could get the mining prop billboard002 decompiled I would so greatly appreciate it
