ok so i was playing around with Boojum's waterfall guide at http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=167&page=2 and noticed i get this blasted red line when i use cheap hydro water. is this a fault of the texture or something i have done? it actually jumps up and down while in the water fall but remains motionless while on the water surface. it's visible in more then one spot but can only been seen above the surface not below. if i shift the texture i can make the line move (it's visible in hammer so i can see the line move while i shift the texture).

in the water without building cubemaps (much worse)

also why do i appear to be floating when walking up this slope?

I believe the flowing water needs to be specifically adjusted to have the fake animation. Using normal water texture, cheap or not, is going to have problems. Post #14 he links a hydro waterfall, try using it.

i don't think you fully read or understood my post. the flowing water works fine. the issue is with cheap hydro water texture. i could delete the waterfall and have the same issue on the normal flat water. i only mentioned the cheap hydro waterfall because it uses cheap hydro as it's base and made me use cheap hydro for the rest of my water to make it all match

Post #14 he links a hydro waterfall, try using it.
Boojum is who wrote post #14 thus why i said "Boojum's waterfall guide" and linked to page 2 of that thread. Basically I am using his hydro waterfall and that's how this all started.

I finally figured out what the problem is with this.

I don't know WHY, but the axis lines across the map along X and Y, at (0,Y) and (X,0), are the regions where the problems lie.

For some reason, the texture water_hydro_cheap, draws red bands along these axes.

If you select your ENTIRE MAP and move it to a place such that your water does not cross these axes, your problem will disappear.

Strange, but at least it's a workaround solution.

I had the same problem with my oil rig map. I had those strange lines across the water surface. see 5th post on page 2 (http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=2166&page=2)
