Hey Guys (And Gals),

This might of already been covered in another thread that I didn't see. If so, sorry for bringing it back up.

I am trying to get custom textures into my maps. Now, I know how to convert and import the textures into the map already. My problem is that when I post it on a server for others to play, they just see the missing pink and black texture.

Is there a way to embed it into the .BSP map file so that when they download the map, they also get the textures in one neat package?

If compiling it into one file is not possible, how would I set it (the server) up so that the other players could see/download the textures?

Thanks!

There are a few programs that allow you include custom items. The file extension .bz is what you get when zipping custom stuff into your map. I think the best right now is Pack Rat, though I can't for the life of me find a link :(

Is the first hit on google :)

EDIT: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Pakrat for more info

I guess google's helpful spelling correction on searches doesn't work backwards, huh :)

No, it's still .bsp. You might be confusing it with .bz2 (.bsp.bz2 generally), which is the bzip2 compression used to reduce the bandwidth hit on fast download servers.
