Texture problem! Assist please !

Hey I'm new to Mapping and I have a problem. Thanks!
So I start Source SDK which I found in Steam and Start Hammer editor.
I create a box from the top view and make it more box-like form the other views. Now i have a nice box. But once i press enter to input the box, It's still the same square line blackness. Theres no texture and i tried to apply texture but it didnt work.
Can someone help me. Thanks

I run Vista btw. Heres a photo of what the box came out to be:

You might want to check what mode your camera is in (notice it says camera in the top right corner of the viewer, check to make sure it says textured)

Foreverkul, I don't see anything at the top right corner. If mine is different, take a look at the attachment plz.

in the top right coner of the 3d view, it says 'camera' click that and make sure its 3d textured or textured shaded polygons

Then make sure you're using an opaque texture. (open the texture browser and select pretty much any texture and apply it to the brush)
