For those of you who are new, or simply haven't noticed, things around here have slowed down quite a bit. I think this is due largely in part to the nice weather, and the end of all the excitement over our contest and Valve letter. Even still, I blame myself a little, b/c it's the responsibility of the admin to keep the site lively and active. Even moreso for me, since I started our little group in the first place.
Anyways, I don't want you guys thinking like this is goodbye or the site is going away, far from it. I think a lot of people are just taking a break from TF2 and the mapping community. As always, if you have any concerns regarding the site or mapping, feel free to drop me a line; danielje42@hotmail.com Now get out and enjoy the nice weather! I went to a concert last night featuring Finger Eleven, Theory of a Deadman, Saving Abel, And Airbourne. Yeah, they rocked my sandals off :D Hope to see you all again soon! Peace. D.
I'd noticed that in the last few weeks both TF2maps and CP have eased off, I put it down to the weather aswell. Don't worry, there are enough people still about to make sure the site doesn't decay into nothingness.

Yeah, I've been on many sites where the admins don't necessarily have to be active for the place to thrive - just make sure you delegate responsibility to mods. :)
I'm kinda the opposite in this regard; I'm not going to start mapping until I get free time that's waiting in the summer. :D

Thats the great thing, there are always people like this who balance everything out again :thumbup1:

From my perspective things seem to be moving along pretty smooth. We're back on track with Game Days and the forums are always lively. Seems the same to me. :D

I have been busy... Midterms finished, but now teachers are ramping up for finals in a couple weeks (My school runs on Quarters rather than semesters).
In any case I have still found time to keep up with my subscribed threads and read the Off-Topic forum. Also I bounce in and out of the chat room, its open nearly 90% of the time on my desktop while I work on other things then I pop over to it and read whats going on.

My gaming computer finally died on me, so I'm out of the PC gaming loop for a long time until my mom and dad can afford a new one.

The cool people are on #tf2maps on irc.gamesurge.net
Which needs some advertising love around here.

Or, by having the IRC chat room we will instead split our support and be left with fewer people in both locations.
We need to decide IRC or Steam, and stick with one. If we try both, neither will survive and the community will be worse for it.

irc vs steam choice should be based on the most common client
steam is significantly easier to use, and from what ive seen anyways, not everyone has used irc before and they might be a bit overwhelmed
plus being on steam just seems to fit when the group is based around steam applications
though ill admit irc is likely better
(mind you ive only read this page so yeah...)

I have wanted to move to IRC from day 1. Steam is just awful as a chat medium.
Also, I've heard the "it'll split the community blah blah" gloom and doom bits before, and it never happened any of the times people got all worried. It really won't kill us to have both.

^ agreed.
To add though, as far as "new" members in the steam chat there hasnt been much, so i think a change over could happen easier now then say.. a month or 2 ago

didnt know that there was an IRC chatroom. Thinking about it I dont really see the point either. I agree IRC is a better chat client but steam is infinitely easier to use and everyone already has it.
