As posted by BladeRoden; The Community Enrichment Center has resolved that group activities and to a greater extent mental-and-physical-integrity-threatening group activities between subjects increases comradery network connection levels, gettoknoweachother file transfer rates, increased mapping productivity throughput, and higher odds of .... cake. weeeeeee.
If you don't get it, go play Portal first lol. The game day will of course be on our server, 8.9.15.114:27015 It's slated for this Saturday, but that may change depending on where you live. Check the group's Steam page, all events are automatically adjusted for your timezone. This is a great opportunity to meet your fellow mappers, get ideas, and generally talk about all things mapping. We have a ton of maps on the server right now, so you could help decide what stays and what gets the boot. Hope to see you all there!

I have an idea.
Lets make a forum poll with all the maps you think have a chance of staying on the server, make the poll multi-select (so you can vote for more than one) and have people select their favorite maps.
Then we can have a better idea of what should be on the server.
Right now I think gulchb1 is on there continuously and it is horribly glitchy on my computer. It says I am running around with a ping of 21 (really good) and an FPS of around 40-50 (pretty good) yet if I turn fast all the lighting gets screwed up for about 1-2 seconds before it resets and as I am running around I get a "Ripping" effect where the textures seem to seperate as if if I was either lagging really bad or had a horrible frame rate, neither of which is true.
I thought the map would rotate off after a bit so I stayed in the game (by myself) but nobody joined and the server stayed on it. I left the game and figured I would come back later, now for the last 2 days every time I check the server its still on there and the server is empty...

Well, it will probably start on our TF2maps.net server which is based in Chicago (Midwest US).
And according to this highly unscientific map of recent visits to my chat logger webpage: http://caffeinesystems.ath.cx/TF2mappers
It seems that while the sun never sets on the TF2maps chat room, the majority of the chatters (who visit my log) are based in the Eastern / Midwest US:

*edit* this could also be that because I am hosting the page off a personal server, on a personal internet connection, with a huge page, and slow upload rate that people in other parts of the world have given up on viewing the log because it takes to long to load, so really the only person that can tell us exactly what the distribution of people is like is DrPepper
Count me in. Hopefully I'll have my map (ctf_hostile) done in time for it to be added to the server to test. If that's be possible. I have just one or two things to tweak and then it should be ready. I look forward to playing some of the other new maps.

I'll try and make it. Saturdays are usually the night me and my buddies get blotto.
One of them is now very big on TF2, so he may want to check out these new maps too.

Maybe split it into two events, same "day", but different times so ppl from different continents are better served.
Nah... I might even make it tonight. But for sure, I need to recharge my mouse batteries now because it still a long way to the event and I'll probably will be gaming/mapping all time till it happens :)

One of the only things that really bugs me about being in the states is the lack of metric system and military time. Free cookie to the first person who can tell me how many pounds per kilogram.

Seriously I don't know why we (in the states) use this weird archaic British royal system. Damn the King's feet, I say!

Well, I think that went really well. We had a bunch of people on the server, and it was pretty cool to look in the chat room and see how many people were in there chatting and how many people were playing in the game.
In any case I think having maybe two scheduled times, one for the equivalent of 9:00 pm in Europe and another for 9:00 pm America's time. And people can show up to both events if they like.
The problem I see with this though is I would rather have one big event than two small events, but at the same time I realize that the ping times for people in Europe playing on American servers can be pretty insane.
And I thought I saw you there drpepper?
