I live in England, tell me what is a hurricane?

Thats basicly it, I live in the dryest part of the country we never get storms, well, almost never and what we call storms are rarely bad enough to cut power/cause damage

3 years ago we had 3 minihuricanes on the mediterranean sea. And I was surfing while the hurricane was at 4 km or so. Not dangerous at all. And they didn't live more than 30 minutes.

I have a HUGE battery backup that usually lasts about 5 hours at full power that runs our servers.

To save power, we powered off the desktop, and the servers. and just kept the routers working.

Power came on about 5AM.

Youme, A Hurricane is a big round shaped storm that gets larger because it is over the ocean. imagine a tornado, but with water, and alot larger.

Then my experience was a tornado, because it was very little

hurricane = typhoon

loool!:lol: we don't call them typhoons!

And yes I know what a hurricane is, believe it or not our 6o'clock news covers international stuff aswell as stuff from our own little island.

Plus most kids have to study hurricane andrew/mitch before they are allowed to drop the subject.

5 day power outage when I was a youngen. Though at the start of this year, the power was out for 3 days. Ironically, it came on about 20 minutes after I started driving back to school (it was the end of winter break).

Was walking home from school in a thunderstorm, about 7 years ago now.. lightning struck a passing land rover. Barely a metre to my left. Crickey it was loud.. to be fair, i wondered why i didn't feel anything, everything beeing horrendously soaked in one of the heaviest rain storms i've been in.

A bunch of girls about 5 metres infront of us all fell over in shock and crawled into the local news agents shouting and screaming in terror, ha ha ha... ah, an amusing memory.
