** Advanced Disclaimer: This event is mainly to have fun, so all rules stated in this thread can, and probably will, be broken. **
When:
August 23 @ 2:00 pm EST on TF2Maps.net home server.
August 24 @ 12:00 pm EST on Colt's UK Server
Where:
Server configuration request / statement:
rtv, votemap, etc... turned off please
30 minute map rounds
Start with testing maps, 30 minutes a map flexibly guaranteed (If we are running way off schedule, deal with it all maps are recorded by Source TV).

Links will take you straight to the server.
Game Day Plan and Rules, Read these or I sic DJive on you.
Use either the TF2Maps.net website, FPSBanana, or a private website to host your maps. Do not use Rapidshare or other crappy filehosts.
Before your submission is accepted there must be a downloadable version of your map.
All map names must follow the guidelines specified in this thread. (http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=2089)
All debate over what maps are submitted, what maps are played, etc. must be handled in this thread PRIOR to the game day. Once the map submission deadline is passed the rotation is set. Map rotation changes will not happen on the actual game day unless there are technical difficulties. If you have a problem with a map, voice your concerns prior to the game day.
Game Day Structure:
The game day has two parts, testing, fun play.
Map testing, takes place first, all maps submitted for testing purposes will receive 30 minutes of play time. Map testing slots will be assigned on a first come / first served basis. I will attempt to accommodate time preferences to a limited extent.
Fun / General play time, any maps that general users want to play together on certain maps.

The reason the rules are in place is because this thread can get really messy and time consuming to update if I need to personally hunt down every map that is submitted.
To answer your question, yes I read the forum, but as you should know I am not a mapper and while I am interested in the maps that come out, I am primarily here for the interaction with the community. Also, this quarter of school has had an extremely heavy workload and I have not had as much time to devote to the forum as I would like. As such, I have not been very active on the forums for the last month or so and do not know all the recent developments.
So, in closing thanks for the link and I will update the main post.
P.S these are not my forums, they are DrPeppers forums.

I recommend to download and unpack the map prior to gameday as it's quite a large one!
Also, if you are playing on gameday and this map is next, it could be good to let players from outside of TF2maps.net know it's a large download so they don't leave during loading ;)
I will unfortunately not be able to make it this weekend. I thank everyone in advance for playing, your feedback has been made of win and awesome so far.

Question: If I were to submit a map that had a point_servercommand to strip specific weapons, would that be alright, or would you prefer to have a version without the point_servercommand and strip the weapons yourselves?

Uhhh, we run vanilla settings, melee only etc maps are not testable to an extent that gameday would help them

08/17/08 Note: Alpha 3 is now uploaded. Download at will.
08/16/08 Note: As of today right now map is in Alpha2, I will be setting up the spawns and a couple other game play elements tomorrow and will have Alpha3 up, this is the build I would like to test.
Also I can not guarantee being here on Sat the 23rd, if possible to put my map into rotation on the 24th so I can be there for the game play that would be great. 1230pm slot on Sunday would be Prime!
Thanks to everyone helping out to put this together. I look forward to checkin' out as many maps as possible.

Edit: There is conflicting information in the event info and the thread title. Info has Sunday at Noon, Title says Sunday at 8:30pm.

The title is auto-generated from our calender utility, and it is a span of time, not two separate times.

well, we get started at 4:00 pm EST and it will ussually keep going strong until around 8:00 pm EST, so about 4 hours.
As for sunday's I can not really say because I tend to be busy on Sunday.

I have updated the main topic, I dont think people will really be sticking around super late though, so I think we have to make a decision.
Here are our options as I see them:
Have different rotations for each Day, a Saturday and a Sunday rotation.
Start the game days earlier by 2 hours, this will give us 4 more map slots.
Extend the Game days past 9:00 pm EST until some later time, this will again give us 4 more map slots.
What are people's thoughts? Maybe some combination of the above?
Also @ bobby, I hope you updated your map as you said you would because I have added it to the rotation.

Nope, after a certain amount of time people get bored, i think this even might be a little to much maps.
If you wanted a slot, you're to late.

I imagine the servers will still be up after the aloted time? I suggest once the slots are full, take backups that can run after the scheduled time so they might still get some exposure. If you tell a mapper that their map will be on a server from 9:30-10p.... that mapper can then gather testers to be there from 9:30 to ten. We can use the Game day hours to hardcore test but if the admins of the servers are ok with it why not throw some others up there for those who didn't get a slot.
I dunno, if there is a way to automate the map changes on the servers, you could run a testing server that flips through the maps on a scheduled basis. Then the author of the map can advertise and gather their own test crew.
I hope all that made sense, just my thoughts.

split the list in half and put 1 half on sat and the other on sunday.
i think a limit of submissions should also be imposed. first come first served with 4 or 5 per day with 30 min rotation would be good.

Split rotation has been set up for Saturday / Sunday being different. Also my amazing awesome guess of 4 hours each day is open for debate.

We might wanna split a timeslot, then. The most my map could possibly run is 20 minutes, and that's if BLU just completely fails to cap both times.

I think as long as we have the round limit set high enough, then I don't think it will be a problem. If we get pressed for slots then I will look into combining you with another slot.

I have updated the download file with a new version of the map fixing the problem with overbright areas for Gameday so the HDR won't make you bleed from your eyes.
I recommend everyone to download it once more so you have it all ready and running for gameday!

Ryodoan: Check to see if you believe this map meets the bar for a gameday. I'm worried, because its only the 1st point of what is planned as a 3 point, linear map (not rounds). With the timelimit set at 5 mins, thats 4-5 play throughs if blu fails each time. If you deem it acceptable, either day is fine with me, though I can only attend Sunday myself.

I am going to be out of town Saturday and studying for an exam sunday.... Just found out about both things yesterday so needless to say I am a little annoyed.
I will not be able to make the game days, but hopefully people will be able to get stuff set up in time.

There is a problem with the server and it is not recognizing any admins. At least, it's not recognizing any of the secondary admins that are actually around today (Saturday). Thus, no map changes are possible. Unless someone else discovers an amazing solution to this problem, Saturday's game day isn't happening.

I just got home and just read a PM I got on the matter.
It is 100% my fault for not getting the server ready, RL has been keeping me busy and away from internet connections and I somehow forgot to update the server.... As for the secondary admins not having access... well... I don't know what to say about that besides that sucks. (mayhaps DJive can have a more accurate answer than that?)
For the maps that were supposed to be played today, I will ensure that that the server is correctly set up for next Saturday and we can have the game day that was supposed to happen yesterday, then.

Start with testing maps, 30 minutes a map flexibly guaranteed (If we are running way off schedule, deal with it all maps are recorded by Source TV).
Was Source TV recording for the Sunday matches? If so any idea when they will be posted?
I had a great time testing maps on Sunday. And got some great feedback on my map. I can't wait to hammer away at it again.

place the demo in the root of tf (../team fortress 2/tf/<demofilename>.dem)
load up tf2, in the console put "playdemo <demoname>"
and then it should play if I've got it right, you can spectate as normal from that.

Big thanks to everyone involved in Gameday. All the testers were awesome. They pointed out a lot of things I knew would get pointed out on such an early build. They will all be dealt with by the next release. I also got a lot of great ideas from both suggestions and watching some of the players in the demo. The map got worked over and I found players trying things I had not even thought about. The community here is amazing! I love it.

I don't believe it got tested, everyone seemed to leave when the game got to hydro, and when that ended it switched to hodoo, and of the 5 people there none of them were admins who could switch it...so...yeah...
