View Full Version : Artillery, turrets, and, well, there's not a third thing, but still, oh my!

As you know I'm the kind of guy who likes thinking making gimmicks. From domination gametypes, to flag invasion maps, and for my upcoming project, lava and hypothermic water :o. But today's gimmick is turrets. And the provided map has two kinds.

The first is a player-controlled artillery gun. You shoot buttons to aim it, and another one to fire it. It randomly fires two kinds of ammo, explosive shells, and dud cannonballs. Though they are duds, the cannonballs will still hurt if they run into you, also they can explode if damaged enough. I tried to make it so it only damages blue players, but the explosive shells can still be a bit testy.

The second one is an automated sentry turret that fires a laser at whatever enemy enters its range. I've only got 4 multitriggers that controls where it aims, so you'd need more if you want it to be accurate at range. One thing that must be noted is that can't be fooled by Spy cloaking and disguises.

Good lord man, that sounds kickass, I cant wait to play on a map that uses this.

Also, I cant wait for an assault map that has this... I love assault maps.

Awesome! Thats so cool! Can you give a quick description of how you made this? Is there a Func_gun somehere? LOL I'm sure its not that simple but I think it would go over well in a map I'm making and I'm not into copying others vmf info but more into learning how you did it and implementing it.

That is totally awesome!

Roden put the .vmf up so people can see how it was done. Its 100% ok to open the .vmf see how it was done and even copy/paste it into your own scenario.
