i cant seem to get teh sky show up when i go to map>properties and put in like for skybox texture thing i put sky_dustbowl_01 but it seems not to show up
am i not doing something??

You mean when you test the map, right? Because the sky will not show in Hammer.

yea when i play in game its jsut balck and like the image you see when you move

Have you enclosed your map in a box textured with toolsskybox? Just making sure...

Did you make a skybox?
Creat a new brush and go to texture>skybox3d. Its a blue with white lines texture.

and DJive i dont think i made one ill check taht out lol im new :D

I think you should take a look at this guide. (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Creating_a_Room) You map must be completely sealed off from the black void. If there are any holes (aka leaks) the map will not work correctly.

well i wanted to make my map like an outside thing like roof top map if you seen that

If you want your map to look like it's outside, then just texture the walls and ceiling of your box with the toolsskybox texture. =)

I'll be home later and i can upload an example. For now..
go to Textures and put in "tools\toolsskybox"
Create a LARGE square around your map, bigger then the top and bottom of the map.
Select your now large brush and go to tools>Hollow or it might be Edit>hollow
select yes to the 32 brushes. Ta da!
This is not the "correct" way for a skybox, but it will do for now.

or just search for a tutorial on it, or prefab if u can't wait.
If u did it correctly, the game will pick a sky for u when u test it, u can change it later.
