For a while, I was trying to click on this thread but it said 'Please go to our chat while the server is down'.
I lol'd but anyway, this will hopefully be much better.

Why do I need a proxy in order to visit the site?

I had proxy issues a few months ago, was a real bugger. Lasted for about 1 1/2 months and made any gameday related stuff a major pain (uploads, DL's).
Then it just went away.?
Why do I need a proxy in order to visit the site?
can you elaborate a little?
can you not access the site directly?
maybe dns hasnt propogated for you.

This is all I see when I try to connect to tf2maps.net normally:
Join us in our steam chat room while the site is under maintenance!

I can only visit the site if I use a proxy.

Solution from boojum:
A Boojum Snark: start>run>cmd
A Boojum Snark: ipconfig /flushdns
A Boojum Snark: tracert tf2maps.net
Restart the browser, and it works!

^ weird that is the message we used over 4 months ago.
Anyways, from Steam chat earlier.
Paul: Ok, I have a fix for those of you that are not faint of heart
Paul: Do you know what a hosts file is?
Paul: Basically, it is a file on your computer that always ties a certain IP to a certain Website
A Boojum Snark: oh, DUH
Paul: The IP is: 206.51.230.163
The Darker Side Of Your Shadow: altering your hosts file to get rid of ads>?
Paul: but, it needs to have the domain name in the request
A Boojum Snark: yeah, I got it from a friend a second ago
NovaSilisko: Apache is functioning normally
NovaSilisko: that's what it gives me
Paul: yeah, which is why you need to edit your hosts file, or wait until tommorow when your ISP updates
A Boojum Snark: but actually I made it work
A Boojum Snark: I flushed my DNS, then rather a tracert to the domain.

I can view the forums now, but the Front Page is still 'under maintenance'
the subdomain forums.tf2maps.net has propagated for you, but tf2maps.net has not. id give it till tomorrow and it should be good to go.

Ah, good to see everything works today. I had lots of problems trying to get in. I had to use proxy as well, which sucked. But I guess all in all, this was a relatively fast move. :)

Actually, I still can't upload because of the error I mentioned on the previous page.
I have cleared my cache, but it didn't help.
