Some things to mention though. Try to keep them 1024 *resized* or 1280 *resized* anything large please use "attach file" as we want to keep the browser from having to go wicked side scrolling.

Hmm... Mine is going to require crazy resizing, heh. I run a tripple monitor 1600x1200 (CRT) - 1680x1050 (22'' LCD) - 1280x1024 (19"LCD)

Making my desktop a whopping 4560x1200 when I take a screenshot, heh. Currently at work for the next 8 hours, so the actually image shall be delayed.

Same vacation as in my previous post.
This is the fast ferry transporting me from Patras (Greece) back to Corfu (Greek island).

The fact why I like this picture is because it was taken with the camera on 'night setting'. So the shutter time (?) is quite large. Then it is better *not* to move the camera. As you can see, I obviously did move the camera accidently, but the effect is rather nice. Almost as if I did it on purpose... :blush:

I actually wrote a program almost exactly like that, probably not as nice, but similar. I had it change my background only on startup and it would either do it from a folder, Flickr, or there was a wallpaper website that I used.

It never really got past the functional stage.

Pauls Stages of Programming:


Idea - That would be a cool program!
Prototype - Lets do a demo and see if I can get it working.
Functional - All basic functions work. Sometimes. Mostly hard coded. Oddly enough, this is where 90% of my programs stop.
Finished - Most bugs have been squished and I organize the GUI into a more coherent, but still unfathomable structure. I think I have had 2 or 3 programs get to this stage, counting the Steam chat logger.

My Computer (just in case my dock dies and I want easy access to my drives)
My Documents (see above)
Recycle Bin (you cant get rid of it easily)
"Temp" folder, I have a 2 TB file server, so when I want something off the file server it gets copied to the "Temp" folder, and I clean it out whenever I feel like doing housekeeping.

I have a tendency to use my desktop as a dumping place for temp files, then later clean it up, and either delete them, or store them where they should go. The desktop, for me, is the easiest place to access them while working. Often if I will be working on a project for a few days, I'll pull it out from its hiding spot and plop it on the desktop for ease of access...

As I said somewhere, I have Windows Vista. My Vista is Home Basic version which came with my now halfway-different Dell computer I bought 2 years ago. Don't laugh at my Home Basic because I put in a classic Windows skin and made it as close as Windows 95 as I can (I'm old).

Also a new wallpaper I really like, and started messing with vista's gadgets again, got the TF2 font on the clock in the lower right of the right monitor! :P

I'm not liking 7's limited options for the new taskbar. You get either no stacking till it's full (with names) or always stacking (never named) or never stack (with names)

WHERES MY DAMN STACK ONCE FULL - NO NAMES OPTION!!!!! >:(

I'm also not liking the extra click i have to do to even see what I have down in the other corner.. there is more space than in vista's or before, so why the heck did they add a tiny button to bring up a little window with them in there, they'd bloody well fit on the taskbar itself!!

Don't get me wrong it's swish an all, but I can't see any way that the new UI for the taskbar is superior to vista's. I can pin things, but then they dont stay in the same place, the show desktop button is now HARDER to hit, since it's in the wrong corner for dual screens, your mouse shoots over to screen two if you miss by even 1 pixel.

I also disklike how many special folders there are and how they're even more 'separated' from the classic file structure as vista's are. I don't want libraries, with sublibraries that are just "libraries" i want document folders that are "D://Users/Tim/my documents" I know i have those folders but because windows want them to be "special" and "separated" and "easy to use" they've dislodged them from the regular file structure. and it's fucking annoying, because they've just dont it MORE than im vista.

I'm not going to change back, but they fucked up on improving workflow. Its now far, far worse than ever before.

Not sure exactly what you mean about the taskbar, but i dont like how you have to click twice to switch between multiple windows of same program.

As for libraries, i hate them as well i did a tweeK (registry i believe) to remove them and hide them from everything including windows explorer.
Do some googleing to find it, if you cant i will send you a look. LIBRARIES SUCK!

I recommend display fusion pro. then you can spread your taskbar over all three monitors as well so each program minimizes to the correct screen (very useful for fullscreen films in WMP whilst doing other stuff)

Alternatively just stitch the images together in photoshop and use tile. different images on different screens without fancy programs.
