Hey there, first time poster, long time visiter thanks to all your great tutorials :)
so in the past months i was trying to catch up with the source/tf2 modeling/compiling process in order to be able to get my models ingame - something i haven't done till the old hl1 days. all the other stuff i worked on was compiled by my buddy :)
so enough talk :)
i made simple porthole model, textured and compiled and thought i might share it with you guys, incase you're interested :)
One thing i'm also not good at, is making rar-archives. So if you download it, you should try to unpack it in the ...team fortress 2\tf-directory - it should then create a "custom_models" folder in each "models" and "materials" directories. I'm sry if it sounds tooo confusing.

i salute you sir, I will definitely be downloading this, but why not put the download on the site? i almost missed it
*EDIT*
these wouldn't happen to be transparent would they?

sry for the little tease :D
i decided to not put the model on the download page to see, if you guys can unpack it correctly, or if i should have to change the archive once again so the directories work properly. and maybe i should then also put a readme in the pack ?
but thanks for the comments and warm welcome so far, guys :)
Lovely! Though the glass is a bit too blue.

lol i think its safe to assume we know how to put models into our tf directories, to be safe though throw in a readme file in just showing an example like
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf"
thats what i do for my models anyhow :|

well, yes of course you know, but since i compiled them in my "custom_models" blabla folders, i thought it might ease things up a bit :)
i changed the blue glass a bit, btw. i think ill upload the model tomorrow to the section. going to bed now :)

k, finished another porthole with the updated texture :)
here's the rar-archive with both portholes. i updated the glass texture on the round one, so it's not that blue anymore. and yes, the glass is transparent :)
still gotta write the readme file though.
paths are:
for the big square one:
C:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\username\team fortress 2\tf\models\custom_models\bull_square1
C:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\username\team fortress 2\tf\materials\custom_models\bull_square1
for the little round one:
C:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\username\team fortress 2\tf\models\custom_models\bull_auge2
C:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\username\team fortress 2\tf\materials\custom_models\bull_auge2

ooo i jsut got a great idea for these
Would it be too much to ask for just the rim (The model minus the glass)?
I'm sure it can double as a doorway, or a window frame, so we can suit it with our own glass.

there you go all the models with no glass included:
http://acumen-design.de/projects/show/bull_frames.rar
this time theres one directory for all three models :)
gotta work on my organization some day :D
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf\models\custom_models\bull_frames
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf\materials\custom_models\bull_frames
hope this can be of any help for you, Void :)

What's the easiest way to go about putting these in. In order to prevent leaks?
