K, between the real work with the panels i just wanted to pop in with a rather simple support pillar. since i decided to to another scene where i can put my model set in, it's just devtextured workspace for now :)

Beautiful! Be nice if you could make them in a variety of different sizes, but in the meantime, these are great.

Very useful.

Could you make sizes in 128 and 512? :3

ah, you people and your various heights !! :D
yes, yes i will do them in 128, 256 and 512 in the near future (valve time)

it's pillar3 because i made two other pillar models before while working on some items for a buddy of mine. like i said, i have to really update my folder structure. it all started with me messing around with untextured models i wanted to compile on my own and now i have one giant folder with all the models in it - some of them compiled, some not even uv'ed, and so on......
pretty messy person :D

but i got to be honest. your positive feedback got me really back into the modding/modeling thing again. cause now i see, that when i texture my models and compile them, people actually get to use them.
and hopefully i get to see my models ingame in maps in the future - at least that's what i hope - and i hope people contact me to show me their work :D

well i decided i'd do all the versions you wished for ;)

yesterday i finished pillar with 256 units, but i decided i won't post every single finished model but wait for tonight when i hopefully have the 512 and 320 one finished as well.

so there will be 128, 256, 288, 320 and 512 units pillars in the end.

64 or 96? Maybe? For those really small things that still need support?

Acumen

meh, you people sure know how to challenge me :D

edit: man, i can tell you, these non square uvmaps are a true nightmare :D
now i decided to finally make my own checkermaps for these ratios !!!

k, so i was experimenting a lot with the rendering and painting techniques on this one and ended up with 3 color schemes. since i decided i might do a 2 skins versions of these pillars i wanted to know, which color would you prefer for mapping ? i decided on a grey version (color 1) and a red-brown version. do you guys prefer the lighter color 2 or the darker color 3 ?

Why not just give the model all of the textures?

Acumen
07-10-2009, 03:58 PM
cause it will save me 7-8 texturemakings :D

edit: uh, sry, i forgot to attach the pic:

Void were are you getting this from? SA or Facepunch?

If you'd check the image, you could see it's from Facepunch.

Anyway, great models.

All the colours look good.
Colour1 = Blu
Colour2 = Neutral
Colour3 = Red

Is that how you're doing it?

Wow, these pillars do look great and fit the TF2 style perfectly :D

I would use them if I was making an indoor map, but at the moment I'm not.

alright you guys, finished the pillar stuff, finally.
In this archive there are 5 custom support pillar models
included (sized 128, 256, 288, 320 and 512 units).
unfortunately, i didn't do the totally small sizes (64, 96) but i might add them later on, i just like to do some other models now. working on a large drill and whatnot ;)
