View Full Version : Buildcubemaps Crashes TF2

I am getting the lame application error whenever I try to build my cubemaps. I have tried compiling cubemaps on 3-4 different maps that I have saved on my computer
now, and all of them display the same error. I even made a small test map with one cp model and a env_cubemap over top of it, that also didn't work.
Process I have been using:
*Load map*
mat_specular 0
sv_cheats 1
buildcubemaps
*Game Pauses for 2 Seconds*
*Game Crashes with an Application error*
I am running the game in fullscreen, resolution is 1024 x 768.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So have I stumped the TF2 Mapping Community? I would at least like some feedback on this so I can eventually compile cubemaps on my own. If this helps at all, this is the error that TF2 gives me:

I have updated Windows, along with my sound and video card drivers.
Happened to me before, but it went away for no discernible reason. Might be a restart tf2/steam/computer fix, unless you specific some enormous non-default cubemap size.

unless you specific some enormous non-default cubemap size.
I not comprehend talk you.
And I did restart my computer/steam/tf2 several times since this has started happening.
Not have caffeine. Me go durr.
"Unless you specified set some enormous non-default cubemap size."
you're probably trying to build a cubemap that is at a higher resoultion than your screen is, make sure you're running TF2 at a high resolution (ie, not windowed) and that you havent been silly and made all your cubemaps 128^2 for no good reason.
Wouldn't 1024x768 should be enough for any cubemap up to 768x768? (Haven't tried.)

I just put in the default env_cubemap entities. I haven't really changed anything with them.
How could I check to make sure I don't have some ridiculous setting like this?
