A forum section for Q&A's on administering your TF2 server. I'm putting together a document on how to find, download and upload new maps, changing the .txt files & etc., to pass along to the other admins on my server. But I still need help.

This process has been a slow learning process, picking up pieces of info here and there. Bottom line is that it has delayed me from installing new maps for about 2 months until I had all the information I needed.

Such as:

How do you update a .cfg file?
How do you give someone RCON access?
The step-by-step process to add a new map to your server.
Trouble shooting when maps don't autodownload and clients are kicked from your server.
Adding server announcements.
Adding sound to your announcements.
How do I update that chalkboard at the beginning to show my map rotation?

Some of this I can help with and already have the documentation. Some of it, I have no clue.

Good. Looking forward to it.

My latest problem is a puzzler. Downloaded/uploaded mario_kart and ctf_snofort_final just like any other map. Updated the .txt files & etc. I haven't played either one but after I selected either one for the next map, I was tossed off the server during download. These are the kinds of problems that drive me crazy because I don't know how many guests have been tossed off the server in similar fashion.
