Data Collection on Complex

Posted 04-22-2008 at 07:03 PM by TheBladeRoden

I'm not an elitist..

I'm not an elitist. Nor am I a perfectionist, an asshole or a brushwork Nazi.

I am different however then *most* mappers..
I hold myself to a mapping standard and if that makes me any of the above.. so be it

-Rant-

I remembered when I installed TF2 for the first time. I waited a while before picking it up because I thought it would be "another" FPS and after installing it, I noticed it was everything but.

You're going to release a map that's been decompiled and recompiled? Eeew.
When the reveal for arena mode came, I was disappointed to find that of the maps Valve had converted to the new mode, 2fort was not among them. ctf_2fort has long been one of my favourite maps to play on: visually, I'd rate it the highest of all the stock maps. The detail work is great, and the lighting is amazing (I really need to do a post or vid analysing the lighting someday!). I also consider it to...

So, after about 5 years, I end up coming back to mapping, oddly enough for the sequel to the game that drove me towards PC games in the first place. As an idea of just how long 5 years ago was, I quit when WorldCraft, which you know as Hammer, was released as 3.4, allowing mappers to see models withing the mapping program for the first time. I remember a picture of a scientist sitting on a toilet, and it was the most amazing thing ever. Steam wasn't around. Yeah, old.

Still, due to...

Still getting huge text for this blog?
Control panel > Fonts > File > Install new fonts
Then browse for this location:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\<steam-username>\team fortress 2\tf\resource
Then install those fonts - then you'll see this blog the way it’s meant to be seen.
