Data Collection on Complex

Posted 04-22-2008 at 06:03 PM by TheBladeRoden
I feel like Albert Wesker forcing people to fight for their lives like rats in my maze of horror, all for the cold, calculating purpose of data collection before the test subject goes prime time.

So I took the gameday and the pregameday logs and found a parser to run them through, and here it the outcome.

I'm not an elitist. Nor am I a perfectionist, an asshole or a brushwork Nazi.

I am different however then *most* mappers..
I hold myself to a mapping standard and if that makes me any of the above.. so be it

-Rant-

I remembered when I installed TF2 for the first time. I waited a while before picking it up because I thought it would be "another" FPS and after installing it, I noticed it was everything but.

Such vivid map design,...

You're going to release a map that's been decompiled and recompiled? Eeew.

The detail work is great, and the lighting is amazing (I really need to do a post or vid analysing the lighting someday!). I also consider it to...

So the the 4th major mapping competition has begun, and already there are too many entries to keep track of.

I'll be writing a blog about developing ctf_fusion. I'm doing a lot of things different with this map than my previous creations, so it will be quite the experience. Hopefully.

I started about a week ago, by thinking of other games where competative ctf work, and how it does it. Some of my favourites from the past are Quake 3 and Tribes 2,...

A return to mapping, trying something new, and moving on

So, after about 5 years, I end up coming back to mapping, oddly enough for the sequel to the game that drove me towards PC games in the first place. As an idea of just how long 5 years ago was, I quit when WorldCraft, which you know as Hammer, was released as 3.4, allowing mappers to see models withing the mapping program for the first time. I remember a picture of a scientist sitting on a toilet, and it was the most amazing thing ever. Steam wasn't around. Yeah, old.

Still, due to...
