Default hey people of tf2 :D


thanks to everyone, you really conviced me to start something in hammer, although that tutorial im assuming is supposed to be how not to map

if i have any newbie questions (ill probably have loads) is it ok to collect them up and post them in one thread, im learning for my self as well but sometimes its easier to ask some pros.

and any ideas on how to go about mapping would be great, for example should i just firstly design on paper then see what i can make in hammer, and maybe some good practices in hammer to make map mapking as easy and fast as possible, after all, playing maps is just as important as making them

btw i read everywhere carving is bad, why doesnt valve just remove that tool

If you have questions, the search function is very much the first friend to turn to

My advice is to start with a King Of The Hill (KOTH) or Arena map, simply because they're smaller and involve less work if you do them symmetrically so both sides are similar.
