Half-Life imo is the greatest shooter released to this date, and is far superior game to Half-Life 2 (which was still a great game). I as well have been following this mod from the beginning and I still never forget to check up on it from month to month. It is honestly my most anticipated game, let alone mod, of the few years, and judging by the blogs and screens they've released it is one of the most thoroughly designed mods, possibly games, to date.
Gonna be AWESOME.

If they screw this up, they're gonna get a much more intimate knowledge of crowbars than you could ever get from being a fan of Half Life.

An update on Black Mesa...
Sadly it will not be coming out this year.
See this thread for more information.

Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn't quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We'll be sure and update if anything changes. Until then, hang tight, it's coming!

Near future = a couple more years. I've waited through four of their six, I can wait a few more without too much heartbreak.
In all truth though, I willingly wait even longer if Valve decided to pick it up and release it like they've done with a'many custom maps for TF2.

I dont think it will take much more than a year from now, what we saw in the trailer looked final already. I think they are mainly doing bug fixes and stuff.

OMG! Haven't they beaten Black Mesa and the Half Life game world to death at this point? It's like flogging a dead horse. Can't they do something different and original?
