IIRC correctly more people play the original still than source. Obviously somewhere in the conversion some fairly fundimental mechanics were lost for people to abandon the sequal in such a dramatic way. Whether or not that was the crack down on bunny hopping remains to be seen, but to have answers would be very interesting.

FYI your chances of getting a key increase if you play CS Source. Not sure how it works specifically, but when they decide to send a wave of keys out, those who've played CS:S recently have priority.

I have ~4-5 hours of CSS on steam. I got an early CSGO key.
They might also take into account SDK.

I find going to Eurogamer Expo greatly increases your chance of getting a key. Worked for me in 2011.

Personally I theorised that valve would want a high percentage of complete CS noobs, as I thought part of the point of CS:GO was to get new players in and be noob friendly. But ignore me since spud is all like "I have statistics!" and I'm all, like "But hey I have anecdotes and speculation!"
