Really great idea, I've though about do this in the past.
Might get more people interested in Custom maps, instead of just running the stock maps.

I'm also willing to help if you need any, I might not be as prestigious as others but I can still help if you need.

I think it would be really interesting to do both a video series and a running blog.

I think if the videos were a good blend of actual map work (sped up with voice overlay) and interviews, people would really like it.

If the interviewees have webcams or camera, they could film responses; if not, you could post the interviews on the blog, along with other considerations that you couldn't fit into the videos.

In addition, the community could get a big awareness campaign going, and try to hype up the eventual release so as many people put the map up on servers as possible.

I'm sure people would be willing to fund a project like this, especially if you made a couple of example videos to demonstrate the quality of the production.

Do it! but if you get interviews etc, and ofc I'll be available, get some decent footage instead of voiceovers/shitty skype cams. Make it feel like a real doc!

aye yes, good cameras are pretty common now (anyone with a smartphone) so there's no excuse for not having some good quality footage in there.

I'm going to try, for sure. I do have to note, it could be a little while before I start doing this. But it is super nice to know there's interest. :]
