Torn between hammers and the logos.

I like the way you've aligned the hammers to the right and not shown the extra ones but i don't like your colour usage at all.

Wow... please tell me this wasn't there a few days ago. >.<

Anyways this is great, loved this feature on Something Awful, this would go great here.

'5 starred.

EDIT: I just realized that you can rate your own threads. (Just did so on a pervious one I made ages ago). Is there any way we can block the author of the OP from rating his own thread to avoid spam?

EDIT #2: I think the logos look nice.

What is it about the colors you don't like? I was trying to use colors that would be noticeable but when you are looking at another area of the page they would blend into the overall color scheme. Here is a larger shot for 'feel' if it'd be useful. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/98931/pics/hammersbig.jpg

Yellow or "gold" for 5 star threads and then grey for everything else seems a little odd. you either want a unique colour for each image, probably not the classic red-green scale but that sort of thing or you want just one colour. Isn't the hammer hammer a blue hammer? Whats wrong with just a blue hammer

The original Hammer logo and app icon is a green hammer set in blue bricks. The current logo is an orangey-bronze hammer set in green bricks. and the SDK launcher Hammer icon (which I stole) is an odd yellowgreen color.

The problem with using blue or green is it has a heavy contrast with the neutral/orange colors of the board and clashes more. The reason for making a 5-rating a different color was pretty arbitrary but I liked the idea of making the best things stick out that extra little bit.

I'm for the singular colour usage, no need to visually represent a rating twice in one system (colours and numbers).

The grey hammer's work very well though. I think i would vote for the grey hammer's without the yellow.

Personally I like the golden hammer thing. The screens from boojum are very nice and pretty much what I imagined myself when thinking about possible icons.

Double post! people don't see edits if it's days later... /excuse

Use the whole range of votes people! There are such rating as 1,2,3 & 4 too, if people only care to vote when the thread is EXCELLENT! the whole point of a rating system is null and void.

The author have no clue what he's doing, and/or writes false information? 1
The tutorial is shallow and offers very little (but correct) useful content? 2
Is the tutorial informative and straight to the point/short? 3
Is the tutorial really good, but avoids going into detail? 4
Does the tutorial explain well enough to leave the reader (both new and old mappers) without any (major) questions, and teach old users new things or handy tips? 5

This is how I rate threads basically. Of course the topic and 'size' of the matter is important and you can't judge all threads by the same standards. But I think people should really have some guidelines to their votes, just a little.. so we don't get swamped in hundreds of 5.00 Goldstars, good sir! posts.

(The jumps between 2<->3 and 3<->4 are a little vague, but it works in my mind difficult to put in into a single line!)

4 is a really good rating! You should not feel like your putting someones thread down by voting it 4... it just means the thing wasn't bloody PERFECT!

Well, have fun. Just wanted to say that a vote system doesn't work if only the extreme votes are submitted.
