Default Displacement Direction alt+rightclick?

everyone knows you need to use the displacement directional thing....
where it pushes and pulls in the direction that the slope is already at..

I swear to god it was alt+rightclick but i haven't worked on a map since October and i dont know if something changes but alt+rightclick isnt working.

did it change? am i just wrong?
how do you do it?

Don't know the shortcut but in the dialog box you can do x,y,z, or face normal (that would be whatever angle the face is at)

yea i know that but i don't want x and y....i need angles..that's what this shortcut is for...it takes form of whatever angle the displacement already is and keeps it so you can use it in other areas.. so if you have a slope...
you (what i thought) press alt+right click and that yellow arrow points in the direction of the slope.

its a must for good displacements. (for me at least, iv based all my displacement techniques around this in the past)

yeah you have to go into face normal mode; alt-rightclick on any face in the world (I like to use this) will select that face's normal (direction) as the direction for displacement painting, and then you can paint your displacement in that direction.
