Electronic
Junkie XL - Dark Territory
From the SSX Blur OST, there is nothing I dislike like about this song. Groovy.
Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane
Everything about this song is made of win.
Infected Mushroom - Heavyweight
This song got me back into electronic music due to the mix of different styles. It's an excellent instrumental.
Infected Mushroom - Stretched
A piece that takes you on a journey over its 8 minute run. Full of awesome leads and riffs.
Digitalism - Magnets
Dat bass. That is all.
Royksopp - Poor Leno
*memories of playing SSX3*
Transwave - Uplifter
Yet another DAT BASS song.
METULH (Light to Heavy)
Tool - Schism
Fairly slow-paced song with an excellent bass line, some great buildup, and the lyrics are rather good as well.
Canvas Solaris - Chromatic Dusk
Starting off with a muffled intro, it bursts onto in a very catchy, driven riff before moving into a clean and lighter section articulated excellently by some sexy drum action. I couldn't even force myself to stop listening to it when I began this little description.
Derek Sherinian - Day of the Dead
Mountains of awesome riffs which never end.
Blotted Science - Synaptic Plasticity
The riffffffffffffffffffs. Jesus christ. This song is a rollercoaster of a ride, with some amazing drumming.
Devin Townsend Project - The Mighty Masturbator
Where do I ever begin? This is a 16-minute song with so many different ideas going on that it's kinda hard to stomach on the first listen, but eventually I came to love it because of all the madness. It begins with a clean intro before moving into a more heavy section. Around the 4 minute mark it changes into something more keyboard-oriented before descending into a crescendo which ends with...
an electronic section(?) that leads into a soundscape featuring a crowd of fans and a speech from Mr.Townsend himself before reaching a fairly straightforward but catchy section which is nu-metal(ish). Finally, it ends with a circus section which features Townsend as an announcer speaking of "the vagina-faced lady" and various other wonders.
...
Yes. It is a bit mad.
Jazz/Fusion
Gordian Knot - Code / Anticode
A bit of jazz/fusion.
Lalle Larsson - Beyond Shadows
The most badass intro of all time.
Everything Else
The Frost - Hyperventilate
Features a beautiful piano intro and an incredibly mad passage which occurs throughout that I simply cannot get enough of.
District 97 - I Don't Wanna Wait Another Day
EAR WORM ALERT.
Mogwai - White Noise
A lovely instrumental akin to the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Explosions in The Sky. Nice music to work to.
Porcupine Tree - 3
Mid-tempo instrumental(ish) that's really laidback.
Shpongle - Invisible Man In A Fluorescent Suit
Another laidback song which very gradually builds-up.
