arena_2fort_b2

A remake of Valve's 2fort map in the Arena style. Since pub 2fort tends to
stalemate rather often with the defence turtling in their base and the offence
deathmatching in the centre, so it lends itself well to Arena play, introducing
a central goal for each team together with removing the possibility of turtling
bring in the tactical decision-making that makes Arena play great.

New ramps out of the water, and new stairs to the battlements open up the play
area, while a single spawn on each side allows for better teamwork from the
start of the round. One small healthpack is available in each sewer (for now),
but with only two ways in or out, it's likely to be a deathtrap. There's also
a reasonable amount of metal around the map to support engineers.

No comments about the map not being original, I'm fully aware of that. If Valve had done their duty and released arena_2fort instead of giving well all the love (cp, ctf, arena???), I wouldn't be doing it, would I?

BETA 2

Fixed HDR cubemaps, numerous lighting issues, improves visual appearance of new geometry, adds more interesting spectactor cameras.

Very nice! I was just waiting for this to happen, and it seems like it would work very well.

I like it, My idea for 2 fort arena was just remove one of the bases and have them fight over a cp in the intelligence room.

Was very well done, and I had fun playing it today. Seemed just fine with 3v3 too.

However, especially after that one round where we all went pyro, I realized that you should probably do something to reduce the amount of water in the map. My suggestion would be that the middle area has "dried out," and that there are only a few puddles (but not deep enough to put the fire out), then have a small pit before the stairs inside the base (the area in the sewers were its currently deep enough to put fire out) that is lower than it is now, and still has water in it.

Maybe round the corners on the new ramps a little?

Other than that, seemed pretty good.

Default

While I have nothing against remakes, I don't think it should be called arena 2fort, maybe another name to distinguish it as a custom remake.
